Kangana Ranaut has voiced her concerns about Bollywood’s growing disconnect from reality, suggesting that this detachment is contributing to the industry’s declining performance. Ranaut argued that many Hindi films are increasingly out of touch with audience sentiments, stating, “Bollywood is living in a bubble.” She emphasized that filmmakers and actors often prioritize superficial elements like physical appearance over authentic storytelling. According to her, this focus on “six-pack abs, hot babes, and item numbers” detracts from the essence of cinema and fails to resonate with viewers.
The actress pointed out that South Indian films, such as Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, are succeeding because they portray relatable characters and real-life struggles. “In Bollywood, no one would agree to play a role like Allu Arjun’s,” she remarked, underscoring the industry’s reluctance to embrace genuine narratives.
Ranaut’s comments come amid a broader discussion about the contrasting fortunes of Bollywood and South cinema. She believes that Bollywood’s fixation on glamour has led to a lack of depth in its storytelling, resulting in poor box office performances for many Hindi films.
