In a significant gesture of support, Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2 have pledged ₹2 crore in financial aid to the family of a woman who tragically lost her life during a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre on December 4. The announcement was made by Allu Aravind, Allu Arjun’s father and a prominent film producer, during a hospital visit to the injured boy, Sri Teja, who is recovering from the incident.
The stampede occurred during the premiere screening of Pushpa 2, resulting in the death of 35-year-old Revanthi and leaving her eight-year-old son severely injured. Following the incident, the family filed a complaint leading to an investigation involving Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management.
Allu Aravind confirmed that the financial assistance would be distributed as follows: ₹1 crore from Allu Arjun, ₹50 lakh from Mythri Movie Makers, and ₹50 lakh from director Sukumar. He emphasized that this support aims to assist Sri Teja’s family during this difficult time.
During their visit to the hospital, Aravind expressed relief at Sri Teja’s progress, stating that he is now stable and no longer requires ventilator support. The boy’s father, Bhaskar, noted that while his son is improving, full recovery will take time. He also clarified that he felt no pressure to drop the case against those involved in the incident.
The tragedy has drawn significant media attention and public scrutiny. On December 24, Allu Arjun was questioned by police regarding his role in the events leading up to the stampede. Reports indicate that police are investigating whether proper permissions were obtained for his visit to the theatre.
In light of these developments, Dil Raju, chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation (FDC), announced a meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to discuss relations between the film industry and government authorities. This meeting aims to foster collaboration and address concerns arising from the incident.
As the film fraternity rallies around Sri Teja’s family, many hope that this support will provide some comfort in their time of grief and uncertainty.
