Actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth have officially been granted a divorce by the Chennai Family Welfare Court on November 27, 2024. The couple, who were married for 18 years, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation.
The divorce proceedings began after Dhanush and Aishwarya announced their separation in January 2022. Despite not attending several court hearings, both were present for the final in-camera proceedings on November 21. During this session, they expressed their mutual decision to part ways, prompting the judge to set a final verdict date for November 27.
In their joint statement released at the time of their separation, the couple reflected on their journey together, stating, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other… Today we stand at a place where our paths separate.” They emphasized the need for personal growth and requested privacy during this transition.
Dhanush and Aishwarya are parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga, and they have committed to co-parenting amicably following their divorce. Both continue to live close to each other in Chennai, ensuring a stable environment for their children.
The couple’s marriage, celebrated in a grand ceremony in 2004, has been a subject of public interest due to their prominent family backgrounds—Aishwarya is the daughter of legendary actor Rajinikanth. Their amicable approach to the divorce has garnered respect from fans and observers alike.
As they move forward separately, both Dhanush and Aishwarya are focusing on their respective careers in the film industry while maintaining a supportive co-parenting relationship.
